The Amphitheatre

The Amphitheatre at Ron Basford Park is a public grass area overlooking the water off Cartwright Street between Performance Works and The Granville Island Hotel. One-time use of the Amphitheatre is free if the party is also renting Performance Works for their reception. If not, the applicant will be charged an administration fee of $100.00 plus GST to book the Amphitheatre.

POLICIES FOR USE:
-this area is a public space, and as such, users must allow the public to pass by unimpeded

-use of the Amphitheatre will be for special events or intermittent use only. No group/person can book the space on a regular or continuing basis

-The Granville Island Cultural Society has the right to refuse any booking based on the possible interference with a concurrent booking inside Performance Works or if they deem the proposed activity to not be in keeping with public events or programming on Granville Island

-The space cannot be used for commercial purposes such as outdoor markets or fundraisers where the public is charged admission

-The erection of tents or installation of any structures or decorations must first be approved by the Granville Island Cultural Society

-Priority for booking this space will be given to CMHC-Granville Island Public Affairs and Programming for their sponsored special events and programs. For those other than CMHC-Granville Island, the space will be booked on a first come, first served basis no more than one year in advance with priority given to those people renting Performance Works

-No amplification of any kind will be permitted at the Amphitheatre

-wedding ceremonies must be no longer than 4 hours in duration including set up and clean up time

-all decoration and garbage must be removed after the ceremony and placed in the green dumpster on the west side of the Performance Works Facility

-no chairs are to be set up on the grass

-Applicant will submit an application form which will be evaluated and if approved by GICS will be signed and returned to applicant

-GICS reserves the right to revise these guidelines at any time
